70 Types of Architectural Styles



  An Architecture Style refers to method of construction and form of building, which is identified in terms of design and history. An Architectural style is developed within a country and keeps changing depending on technology, religion, beliefs, materials available, fashion and requirement.

We would like to share 70 Known Architectural styles which helped in developing the architecture style in which we are living today.
41. Constructivism Architectural style - 1920 to 1932

During 1920 and early 1930 in Soviet union this Architectural style flourished. It was a form of modern architecture.

42. Bauhaus Architectural style - 1919 to 1933

This Architectural style was founded by Walter Gropius in Germany. It was a refined architecture as with radically simplified forms, with rational and functional design.

43. Art Deco Architectural style - 1925

This was a Glamorous Architectural style with bold geometric form and a modern machine age aesthetic. It emerged in France and spread quickly throughout the world.

44. International Architectural style - 1927 to 1971

International Architectural style become famous and still in use for Tall buildings in cities. It is a form of modernism and extensive use of glass.

45. Brutalism Architecture style - 1951 to 1975

This Architectural design was dictated by raw construction materials and exposed work. Reinforced concrete is most commonly recognized building material used during Brutalist architecture along with brick, glass, Rough stone and steel.

46. New Modernism Architectural style - 1952

This style was more monolithic and functional and used for corporate offices.

47. Critical regionalism Architectural style - 1953

This style was sense of vernacular Architecture. It was tied to geographical and cultural context.

48. Post Modernism Architectural style - 1950 to 2007

The designs were characterized by clashing stylistic elements, sculptural forms and trompe l'oeil.

49. High-tech Architectural style - 1970
The Lloyd's building in London by Richard Rogers Source: Wikipedia
Norman Foster and Richard Rogers were the famous practitioner of this style of architecture with elements of Skeletal structures and piped mechanical services in exposed form. The functional elements were kept exposed in this form of style.

50. Memphis group Architectural style- 1980

Memphis group was an Italian design founded by Ettore Sottsass which incorporated plastic laminate along with ephemeral design featuring colorful and abstract decoration as well as asymmetrical shapes.
