नमस्ते वास्तु पुरुषाय भूशय्या भिरत प्रभो |

मद्गृहं धन धान्यादि समृद्धं कुरु सर्वदा ||

The term Vastu derived from sanskrit meaning dwelling of building with a corresponding plot of land. The vrddhi, vastu, takes the meaning of the site or foundation of a building.

"Vas"  means to dwell
"Vaas" means to dwelling place consisting of

  • Bhoomi - means the plot or land where building is proposed
  • Prasada - include the compound wall where building is to be made
  • Yaana - means vehicles (Chariots) parking space within the bhoomi
  • Shayana - means all the furniture and utensils in building(Prasada)
"Tu" meansone who changes his shape at will

Vastu is that energy or force that lives eternally. It is never ending and omnipresent.

"Shastra" is also a sanskrit word which means teaching or doctrine.




Vastu shastra (Vaastu Sastras) are ancient sanskrit manuals of architecture which contain vastu vidhya.    
Vaastu shastra unifies the science, art, astronomy and astrology. It is not wrong if one say it is an ancient mystic science for designing buildings. It help us to make our Lives better.
Vaastu is science of directions and combination of five elements of nature and teach us balance between man and the material.

Our sages and seers have knew the secrets of using The five elements are called Panchbhootas. These elements have influences such as magnetic field, gravitational effect of earth galaxy in sky, directions, wind, light, Sun, effects of ultra voilet rays and rainfall etc and where used for advantage of mankind in planning and constructing the building for dwelling, prayer, entertainment, working, production, education and other purposes. They have scientific method and systems as VAASTU SHASTRA.
